B2C

Area
E-commerce

B2C, short for business-to-consumer, is the market in which companies sell to consumers.

The German business encyclopaedia Gabler Wirtschaftslexikon covers the term alongside B2B, and its entry is the basis of this definition. The consumer, on the other hand, is defined in law. Under section 13 of the German Civil Code (BGB), a consumer is any natural person who enters into a legal transaction for purposes that predominantly fall outside their trade, business or profession.

A single shop can serve both markets: two of our own, rollenrampe.de and rasensamen-kaufen.de, sell to businesses and consumers alike.

We know from experience what selling to consumers involves. Alongside those two shops we run samen.de, our garden portal with a shop for seeds and garden supplies. Running all three day to day shows us how conversion rates move, why goods come back and how search traffic swings. What we learn there shapes our decisions for client shops.

If this term is on your desk right now, a conversation usually helps faster than any definition.
